Scott has been my favorite guitar player since the first time I heard him play. I was always envious of Gary Willis for that reason. I even asked Scott at one point if I could understudy Gary's bass parts (good luck!) in case there was a gig Gary couldn't make- but Gary is in fact half of Tribal Tech so it's not likely you'd ever hear them without him. I got to play with Scott for a while in 1985 (see Jean Luc Ponty) and we also jammed a few times together with Danny Carey on drums, but I never thought I'd have the opportunity to play with him in a band. I can't tell you how happy I was to get the call for his 'blues' trio back in 1998. The new Live album was released Feb 1, 2005. Well To The Bone, was released September 3, 2002- both with Kirk Covington on drums. If you ask me what the band sounds like I'd say it sounds something like Hendrix on Acid, but then, Hendrix was on Acid, so I don't know. Lots more info and mp3s from some of Scott's other albums at Scott's 'Official' Website (administered by Alf Frimanslund). You can also find a track off Scott's Tore Down House album, as well as original music from most of our LA guitar playing pals at our buddy Barrett Tagliarino's site monsterguitars.com WHERE
ARE THE SCOTT HENDERSON LIVE mp3s?!! Sorry. Despite two years of effort
on my part to improve the quality of my live recordings to a point where
Scott would okay them for the site, Scott recently decided not to let
it happen. Here's the argument: To me it's about WHAT he played. To him
it's about the TONE he played it with. I'm recording with the Core
binaural stereo mics to a TRV-900
DV video camera at 48k/16 bit. I think I got a few great recordings ,
but obviously, to Scott, who spends a lot of hours getting his tones just
right for recording, the results are unsatisfactory. And then there's
the mp3 encoding. So I don't blame Scott for his decision, I'm just bummed
that you all can't hear some of the most ungodly guitar playing ever to
grace the planet. |
